MESSAGE FROM THE PRESCHOOL HEAD

At Excel Community School, we believe that every step in education is important. We provide a unique, high quality learning experience for babies, toddlers and young children. We believe that every child is unique. Every child has limitless potential, ready to shine if given the proper guidance and care. We see each child as special, with his/her own talents, strengths, hopes and dreams. Each deserves individual care and attention to bring out his/her best. This is what Excel Community School strives to achieve.

Preschool Curriculum

Excel Community School has adopted the Developmental Approach Program (DAP) for the preschool children aged 1-3 years and the Ghana Education Service (GES) Curriculum is followed in delivering instruction to children in kindergarten through to the Junior High School. The Developmental Approach Program through interactive and active processes rather than through passive and receptive processes. The approach provides the opportunity for us to work with the children in small groups. The kindergarten level adapts the Ghana Education Service Curriculum. This curriculum aims at developing key learning skills such as speaking and listening, concentration and learning to work together. It develops early literacy and numeracy skills which will prepare our young children for the next stage.

In the Infant/toddler room, we aim to create a cozy homely atmosphere where toddlers are cared for as if they were at home. Interactive and stimulating activities with the use of appropriate toys and play equipment characterize the sessions. Storytelling, singing, music and movement, gross and fine motor skills, and many other activities help the toddlers’ overall development.

Our preschool program prepares the children for the next exciting chapter in their education. With a combination of teacher-guided group and individual child guided activities, we strengthen the social, emotional, physical, language and literacy, mathematical reasoning, social studies, science and creative development of the children.
